Bonneville Salt Flats Elopement

September 1, 2020

A Bonneville Salt Flats elopement is incredibly unique wedding day experience! The Salt Flats are like no other place I’ve ever been in the lower 48 states. The Salt Flats are 30,000 acres of densely packed salt pan in the northwestern part of Utah.

I’ll never forget the first time I saw the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. It stunning simplicity in jawdropping. Since it’s a wide open space, it’s like a beautiful blank canvas with stunning mountain view backdrop for your elopement! Whether you want to elope just the two of you or have a full ceremony set up with your closest family and friends, the Bonneville Salt Flats is a great place to elope. The elopement day possibilities are endless at the Bonneville Salt Flats!

My favorite time for couples to elope at the Salt Flats is at sunset. The sun creates a beautiful reflection on the white salt and as the sun goes down, the skies turn into the most beautiful cotton candy colors! If you’re really lucky and it’s a clear night, you’ll have an incredible view of the moon and starts! But no matter what time of day you visit, you will be in awe of the beauty of the Bonneville Salt Flats!

Bonneville Salt Flats Elopement Pro Tips:

  • The salt can be super drying! Bring lots of water to stay hydrated and chapstick! You might think chapstick seems random but by the end of the night, my lips were so dry they almost started bleeding.
  • While most of the Salt Flats you can drive on, there are wet areas of the salt where a car can get stuck. Always beware of where you are driving!
  • Make sure to communicate and plan a meeting point in advance, because there’s no cell service on the Salt Flats!
